Clean energy job growth is still outpacing other sectors of Georgia’s economy according to nonpartisan energy and economy organization E2.

E2 southeast advocate Zach Amittay says that Georgia added 3,000 clean energy jobs in 2024, bringing the total to over 85,500 clean energy jobs.

“That represents a growth rate that's five times faster than Georgia's overall economy," he said. "So,  just another year of data demonstrating clean energy as a real engine for job creation in Georgia, and a real driver of  workforce growth for the state."

Georgia is in the top 15 U.S. states for clean energy jobs, and there are seven times as many clean energy jobs than fossil fuel jobs in Georgia, according to Amittay.

The data was collected through the end of 2024, when federal incentives from the Biden administration’s Inflation Reduction Act helped the industry grow, so it does not include any changes to policy that could affect the clean energy sector.

An earlier report from E2 showed that three clean energy projects in Georgia have been canceled this year, and three others have been announced.
