Outkast is now officially in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The Atlanta rap duo, made up of André 3000 and Big Boi, were among seven artists honored during Saturday night’s induction ceremony in Los Angeles.
They’re the first Southern rap group ever inducted.
During their acceptance speech, André 3000 thanked late Atlanta producer Rico Wade and the Dungeon Family, the Atlanta collective that launched their careers.
"We talk about the music a lot, but a lot of times it's a lot more than just the notes or the instruments that you're playing: It's everybody that's around you, it's the family — and this is my family," he said.
Actor and musician Donald Glover, also known as Childish Gambino, introduced Outkast saying the group didn't just represent the South, "they redefined it."
Performances from Janelle Monáe, Tyler, the Creator, and Big Boi himself brought the house down with renditions of Outkast classics.
Outkast didn't perform together for the first time since 2016 as some had hoped; Andre sat out the performance.
Other inductees included Cyndi Lauper, who turned “True Colors” into a powerful anthem at the ceremony. She led an all-star jam with artists like Chris Robinson and Bryan Adams to honor fellow Rock Hall inductee Joe Cocker. Lauper acknowledged the women who paved the way for her and those who follow.
Rap group Salt-N-Pepa also celebrated women's power in music, performing hits like “Push It” and “What a Man.”
Soundgarden's segment included emotional tributes to late member Chris Cornell, and The White Stripes were inducted (though another reunion that didn't happen) along with other rock legends receiving rousing tributes.
