Heather Henley, editor of Do Savannah, and Bill Dawers, Savannah Morning News columnist and editor of Hissing Lawns, offer up some ways to have fun in the Savannah area this weekend through Thanksgiving.

Bill’s picks:

-Trace the history of armor from the early Renaissance through the “batsuit” of Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy at the latest Armstrong Moveable Feast lecture, Thursday at the Telfair Museum Rotunda. The lecture by professor Grant Gearhart uses the painting “The Black Prince at Crecy” as a jumping-off point to look at the interplay of armor and identity. Thursday, 6 p.m.-7 p.m.; free.

-Take in the music of Bach, Handel, Vivaldi and more at An Evening of Baroque from the Savannah Philharmonic, Thursday at the Lucas Theatre. The concert features a number of favorites, including a performance of Vivaldi’s “Gloria” with the Savannah Children’s Choir and alumni soloists. Thursday, 7:30 p.m.; $16-75.

-Catch new music from Anders Thomsen on Saturday at the Jinx. Thomsen’s been big in the local Americana scene, playing with groups like Damon and the S-kickers and the Grand Gestures. This weekend he’ll release a new CD of solo tracks. Saturday, 10 p.m.

-Celebrate music legends The Band with the second edition of the Thanksgiving-eve extravaganza Life is a Carnival: A Tribute to the Band at the Lucas Theatre Wednesday, Nov. 25. The show features the New Familiars playing as a house band with local musicians from bands including Les Raquet, the Accomplices, Bottles & Cans and Train Wrecks. Wednesday, 7:30 p.m.; $20 in advance, $25 at the door.

Heather’s picks:

-You might not know the name Ron Campbell, but you know his work: “Yellow Submarine,” “The Smurfs,” “Scooby-Doo” and tons of other familiar animated shows. Meet Campbell and check out his work - and watch as he creates new pieces - all this weekend at the Oglethorpe Gallery. Thursday-Saturday, 12-8 p.m., Sunday, 12-5 p.m.; free.

-Discover your new favorite author - or hear from one you already love - at the latest Seersucker Live show Thursday at Ampersand. Dubbed the Curbside Episode, it features three authors from Chicago’s Curbside Splendor Publishing: Vanessa Blakeslee, Dasha Kelly and Patrick Wensnick. All three will discuss and read from their new novels. Thursday, 7 p.m.; $10.

-Enjoy a fall bike ride for a cause at the Savannah Bicycle Campaign’s annual Cranksgiving event Saturday. Register and pick up your grocery list at the Bicycle Campaign headquarters, then ride around town collecting Thanksgiving dinner staples for those in need. Along the way, compete in categories like “most items carried by a single person” and “most innovative cargo rig.” Donations will help Emmaus House distribute Thanksgiving meals. Saturday, 1-4 p.m.; $20 in advance, $25 at the event.
