Tanya Milton, vice president of the Savannah Tribune, and Bevin Valentine Jalbert, co-editor of Paprika Southern magazine, offer up some ways to have fun in Savannah this weekend.

Bevin’s picks:

-Get a head start on your holiday shopping at the Two Day Holiday Pop Up Shop at Cohen’s Retreat. It’s your chance to shop the wares of many local vendors, including Fish out of Water, Paper Towns Vintage, Drayton and King Boutique and many more. Friday also includes a book signing by Kimberly Schlegel Whitman, author of a new wedding inspiration book. Friday, 2-6 p.m. and Saturday, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.; free.

-Discover your next great piece of art at the Telfair Art Fair, Saturday and Sunday in Telfair Square. Shop the work of 85 local and national artists, working in a wide range of styles and media. The fair promises something for any taste and budget. And there are family activities all weekend as well, to get the kids in on the fun. Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday, 12-4 p.m.; free.

-Find your new fitness obsession with the help of some free classes at Savannah’s newest gym, Fit 46. For their grand opening weekend they’re offering free classes in Barre and cardio. Visit their website for a schedule and to register.

-Indulge your inner nerd for a cause at the Trustees Theater Saturday with a screening of “Serenity.” The sci-fi film, beloved by Joss Whedon fans and space enthusiasts alike, is based on Whedon’s short-lived fan favorite TV show “Firefly,” but doesn’t require knowledge of the show to enjoy. Proceeds will benefit the kidney transplant fund of local musician Keith Kozel. Saturday, 8 p.m.; voluntary donations, suggested at $10.

Tanya’s picks:

-Enjoy a local take on one of the most popular competitions out there at Dancing With The Savannah Stars on Thursday at the Lucas Theatre. Local celebrities have spent the last several weeks fundraising and working on their moves to get ready for this ballroom dance competition. It benefits Savannah/Chatham Court Appointed Special Advocates, who work with abused and neglected children in Chatham County. Thursday, 7 p.m.-9 p.m.; $45 general admission, $115 VIP.

-Celebrate with Savannah State University as the school marks its 125th anniversary. The weekend’s festivities kick off with the annual Founders Day Observance Ceremony on Thursday. Get an update on the school’s progress at the State-of-the-University Address on Friday. Then on Saturday, celebrate at the Anniversary Gala, featuring a keynote address by Gov. Nathan Deal. Find more information here.

-Sample all that Savannah’s culinary scene has to offer at the Savannah Food and Wine Festival, continuing all weekend. Sip a wide selection of wine and spirits at the River Street Stroll, or sample hundreds of wines and beers and taste tons of delicious food at Taste of Savannah at the Georgia State Railroad Museum. Find the full rundown of events and tickets at their website.
