lionfish

Lionfish, with their bright stripes and poisonous spines, are a pretty exotic animal - not the kind of fish we’re used to in Georgia and South Carolina. But the fish from the Pacific is showing up in this region, and conservationists say that’s a problem.

Elizabeth Underwood coordinates lionfish programs for the Reef Environmental Education Foundation. She talked with GPB Savannah's Emily Jones about how the fish got to the Atlantic and what can be done.

Underwood will give a workshop in Savannah, Wednesday night 6-8 p.m. at the Skidaway Institute of Oceanography's McGowan Library Auditorium.
