Gov. Nathan Deal is scheduled to be sworn in for his second term Monday, January 12 at 2 p.m. (Listen to ceremony live on GPB Radio or watch a livestream of the event. You can also watch the ceremony on GPB TV at 7 p.m. Monday)
The ceremony was set to take place at Liberty Plaza at the Capitol but is being moved indoors due to the impending wet weather.
Weather conditions have not affected the remainder of the inaugural schedule. Here is what is planned.
A prayer service is being held at Mount Paran Church at 9 a.m.
For the first time in many decades, officials will start the ceremony with the ringing of the state’s replica of the Liberty Bell. The federal government gifted the bell in 1950; it will remain at Liberty Plaza permanently.
The inauguration will culminate with a gala on Thursday, January 15 at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. Country singer Alan Jackson is scheduled to perform.
