Tybee Christmas

Visit Tybee Director Sara Lane and Savannah Music Festival Marketing and Managing Director Ryan McMaken offer ways to have a fun and festive weekend in Coastal Georgia.

Sara’s picks:

-The holiday season will get off to a bright start on Tybee Island. First on Friday night, Tybee’s mayor will light the island community’s annual Christmas tree. Choirs and dance students will perform, and there will be complimentary refreshments on hand. Friday, 6:30-9 p.m.; free.

-Santa and Mrs. Claus will stop on Tybee for the holiday parade on Saturday. Festive floats will lead the benevolent Christmas couple around town, then visitors can meet and take photos with St. Nick. Saturday, 1-3 p.m.; free.

-Get a peek inside Tybee’s cute cottages while they’re all decked out for the holidays with the Holiday Cottage Tour on Saturday. Ticket holders can also get holiday treats at North Beach Bar and Grill starting at 11:30. Proceeds benefit the Humane Society. Saturday, 10 a.m-3 p.m.; $30.

Ryan’s picks:

-Enjoy some fun and entertaining Bluegrass on Friday with Little Roy Lewis and Lizzy Long. They’ll perform at Randy Wood Guitars in Bloomingdale, a classic music store offering custom guitars and instrument repair. Friday, 7:30 p.m.; $23

-The top-notch guitar acts continue on Saturday with Folk Transgressions at Trinity United Methodist Church. Performers include Daniel Bachman, Richard Leo Johnson and Coy Campbell. Saturday, 7 p.m.; $10 general, $5 students

-Celebrate the season with holiday shows at the Lucas Theatre all weekend. Catch the holiday classic ballet The Nutcracker Saturday. Then on Sunday, the Savannah Children’s Choir will perform their Christmas concert, with music ranging from lullabies to sacred classics to rousing Gospel. Nutcracker Saturday, 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.; $12-38. Children’s Choir Sunday, 3 p.m.; $10-50.
