State Democratic Party chair DuBose Porter says losses in the Governor’s and U.S. Senate “stung like hell”.
But in a statement, Porter says that Republican margins of victory in those offices were the smallest since 2002.
He also noted that U.S. Senate candidate Michelle Nunn performed well in Republican strongholds, like Cobb and Gwinnett counties.
Democrats also held all of their seats in the state House and Senate.
Porter says he hopes Georgia will become a battleground state in the 2016 presidential race.
