With DeKalb CEO In Court, Citizens Group Hopes To Start Discussion Of Reforming County Government

Former DeKalb County CEO Burrell Ellis is on trial, accused of shaking down county vendors and business owners for political donations.

Former commissioner Elaine Boyer pleaded guilty in federal court earlier this month, after admitting to charging tens of thousands of dollars in personal expenses to her county-issued credit card.

A group of concerned citizens says it’s time for deep changes to DeKalb County government--from internal audits, to an independent ethics board, to possible term limits for county officials. Blueprint DeKalb is holding a public meeting on their ideas Tuesday night in Decatur.

GPB’s Bradley George spoke with one of its members, Martha Pacini.
