Jekyll Island officials have released their plan for conserving natural areas on the state-run island.

The preliminary draft unveiled this week now goes to a 30 day public comment period.

Jekyll officials say, the plan's purpose is to detail exactly how natural areas will be preserved and how developed areas can be best managed to benefit wildlife.

It's taken about a year to develop the plans.

By law, Jekyll Island must remain 65% undeveloped.
