Environmentally-friendly appliances come with a rebate starting Friday.

If you buy an “Energy Star” appliance in Georgia, you are eligible for as much as $199 back.

It's courtesy of federal stimulus money.

Only new appliances are eligible, including clothes washes, dishwashers, heat pumps, air conditioners, furnaces, water heaters, freezers and refrigerators.

The most a household can buy is $1,200 worth.

There are some fine-print restrictions though.

On-line purchases don’t count.

And the state has $8.6 million federal stimulus dollars to fund the rebates.

Once the money is out, even qualifying purchases won’t be rebated.
