Field Trip: Lucy Laney Museum of Black History

History Online's look at Alonzo Herndon addresses the issue of "separate but [supposedly] equal" worlds for blacks and whites at the turn of the 20th century. Lucy Craft Laney also lived during that time, and fought to provide quality education for Georgia's African-American children. People knowledgeable about the history of Georgia may find similarities between her crusading efforts and those of Martha Berry. Learn about Lucy Craft Laney's life and dedication to providing educational opportunities to Black youth in the Augusta area. Also see the exhibits which feature prominent artists of our times.
