"Work it Out Wombats!" is a series for preschoolers starring Malik, Zadie, and Zeke, three energetic and creative marsupial siblings who live with their grandmother, Super. The show takes place in the Treeborhood, the biggest treehouse in existence! Together with their family and neighbors, the trio tackles problem-solving by putting their heads together and figuring out a solution using computational thinking.

Playtime with the Wombats! is an interactive pop-up event developed in partnership with GBH and inspired by the PBS KIDS series "Work It Out Wombats!".

The activity stations introduce young learners to computational thinking (CT), a creative toolkit from computer science that helps preschoolers master problem-solving, express themselves, and accomplish tasks step-by-step. Through four engaging, hands-on stations, children will explore essential CT practices:

  • Treeborhood Cause & Effect: Build and experiment to discover how things work.
  • Ice Cream Delivery Sequencing: Master the art of ordering steps to achieve a successful goal.
  • Everything Emporium Sorting: Strengthen classification skills by organizing objects.
  • Shape Puzzles: Boost spatial reasoning and creative design.
