Georgia Stories

"Georgia Stories" is GPB’s legacy history series—reimagined for a new era. This video series brings Georgia’s past to life through dynamic visuals, inclusive storytelling, and standards-aligned lessons, spanning from Indigenous history to present-day. Designed for 8th grade Georgia Studies and beyond, each episode pairs engaging narratives with classroom-ready discussion questions and teaching tips.

The series was produced by Georgia Public Broadcasting and supplements GPB’s full Georgia Studies digital library which includes: Georgia Studies digital textbook, 30 virtual field trips, and Georgia Race Through Time history adventure game.

Georgia Rocks! The Geology of Georgia

Allen Padgett from the Department of Natural Resources leads a group of students into a cave in Cloudland Canyon in the Appalachian Plateau of northwest Georgia. Along the way he describes how caves and valleys in north Georgia were formed by the forces of nature lifting up massive rocks to create mountains with pockets underneath.
