In this feature, student reporter Emma Benvenuto reflects on Boston Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman’s standout 2025–2026 season and his nomination for the Vezina Trophy, as told through season highlights, statistical milestones, and reactions from fans and fellow students. 

On April 29, 2026, Jeremy Swayman was named a finalist for the 2025–2026 Vezina Trophy. The Vezina Trophy is awarded annually to the National Hockey League’s top goaltender and is named after legendary George Vezina of the Montreal Canadiens.

If Swayman wins, it would mark the fifth time a member of the Boston Bruins has earned the honor. The most recent winner for Boston was Linus Ullmark, with previous recipients including Tuukka Rask, Tim Thomas, and Pete Peeters.

This recognition follows not only Swayman’s strong NHL season but also his performance on the international stage, where he helped Team USA secure a gold medal in ice hockey at the Olympics. “It was really cool to see him play in the Olympics,” said freshman Finn Kirkland. “I hope he gets it.”

Swayman’s season statistics reinforce his case. He recorded a nine-game home win streak from January 10 to March 10, tied for fourth in the NHL with 19 home wins, and set a career high with 31 total wins in the regular season. His .907 save percentage ranked among the league’s best.

“He has one of the best save percentages in the league. He’s just a great player to watch,” said senior Jackie Hardy.

The Vezina Trophy winner is expected to be announced by May 11, where Jeremy Swayman will look to add his name to an already impressive list of Boston Bruins goaltenders. After a career-best season and success on the international stage, Swayman has firmly established himself among the NHL’s elite and now awaits the final decision that could define his year.
