Arabia Mountain High School students Jorani Thomas, Angelina Eam, Rayah Hudson, and Daniyah Davis explore what school spirit really means, examining how pride, participation, and community shape student and teacher experiences beyond school merchandise and events. 

The spirit of Arabia Mountain High School extends past its school merchandise and athletic events because it represents the collective pride and unity that students and staff members share with their entire school community.

The school spirit at Arabia Mountain High School represents the strong bonds that unite students with their teachers and the entire school population. Some students fully support school spirit, but others believe the school needs additional activities to generate more enthusiasm.

Research, evidence, and expert opinions demonstrate that school spirit creates positive effects that boost student confidence, leadership abilities, and academic performance. 

 

What is school spirit?

School spirit consists of more than wearing school logo shirts. The student section at football games and homecoming week activities represent two examples of school spirit participation.

The Arabia Mountain High School community holds various opinions about the actual definition of school spirit among students, teachers, and school administrators. The complete understanding of school spirit requires listening to the voices of our school members who exist beyond the surface level.

Mr. Boatwright works at the school and believes that school spirit demonstrates the entire educational experience because it represents both academic dedication and meaningful time spent with peers and teachers. 

School spirit, according to him, represents more than just school events because it unites people while fostering school pride and a sense of community. 

Senior Jamin Govan experienced an increase in school spirit throughout his high school years, because pride develops over time spent at school.

The school spirit does not create the same level of connection among all students. Elizabeth Jones believes the school needs to create additional fun events that will help students develop their excitement and school spirit. 

Geovanni Palmer believes that school spirit only becomes active when the school competes against rivals or hosts important games.

The students demonstrate the requirement for specific events that include all students beyond major athletic competitions. The research findings support these proposed concepts.

The Varsity Brands national data indicates that students who demonstrate strong school spirit achieve better academic results and show higher confidence levels and happiness rates, according to 92% of principals. 

Principal Mason at Arabia Mountain High School confirms that the Rams' spirit manifests through academic success, sports, and leadership activities.
