On this episode of Peach Jam, you will meet Skylar Peterson, a rising classical crossover singer whose music fuses cinematic drama with contemporary emotion. Hailing from Dacula, Skylar’s story begins in middle school jazz band, where the saxophone opened a door to performance. A trip to New York changed everything.

Hearing The Phantom of the Opera for the first time, Skylar realized that powerful, theatrical music was where he belonged. Within a few years, he was training in musical theater, mastering vocals, and developing the rich baritone that defines his sound.

Peterson’s self-driven study of Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban, and Il Divo led him to the doorstep of legendary producer David Foster. After a meeting in Nashville and a follow-up message from Foster’s associate, Olivier Basile, Skylar flew to Los Angeles to record original songs with Grammy-winning collaborators, including JR Robinson and Edgar Cortázar.

Those sessions yielded a new wave of classical crossover music — dramatic, multilingual, and cinematic in scope. The project quickly drew nearly 700,000 Spotify streams and tens of thousands of monthly listeners.

Skylar Peterson’s success is not an accident. Raised by a singer and grounded in hard work, Skylar approaches his craft like a scholar, studying voice, technique, and the International Phonetic Alphabet to perform convincingly in Italian, French, Spanish, and more.

His message to listeners is simple: Talent may open a door, but dedication keeps it open. From a Georgia classroom to an L.A. studio, Skylar Peterson is proof that the next chapter of classical crossover just might start in the Peach State.
