BIOLOGY REVEALED, A New Series For High School Students, Brings Biology To Life
Primary Content
Georgia Public Broadcasting, in partnership with the Georgia Department of Education, is proud to announce the launch of Biology Revealed, a new high school biology video series. Aligned directly with Georgia’s biology state standards, this series helps students explore key scientific concepts through engaging, real-world learning experiences across the state.
Biology Revealed goes beyond the traditional classroom to make abstract concepts visible, tangible, and relevant. Each episode blends two powerful learning approaches:
- Studio-based demonstrations, where biological phenomena are modeled and explored up close
- On-location field experiences, where students see biology in action in real environments across Georgia
Filming locations include some of the state’s most dynamic learning environments, like Sapelo Island, the Okefenokee Swamp, Georgia Tech, and the State Botanical Garden of Georgia. These settings help students connect scientific ideas to the ecosystems, research spaces, and communities where biology is actively at work.
The series is organized into five core units that reflect the major strands of high school biology instruction:
- Organization
- Genetics
- Reproduction
- Ecosystems and Biodiversity
- Ecology
Across these units, there are 18 total instructional videos, each designed to support conceptual understanding and classroom application.
Each of the 18 core episodes is designed as a ready-to-use instructional resource. Episodes include:
- Teaching tips to support classroom implementation
- Key vocabulary to reinforce scientific language
- Discussion questions to promote critical thinking and student engagement
Many episodes also include independent student activities, giving learners opportunities to extend their understanding through inquiry, analysis, and application.
In addition, a sixth unit features 14 career-focused videos, highlighting the wide range of pathways available in biology–from environmental science and biomedical research to conservation and biotechnology. These videos help students understand not only what biologists study, but also how they can pursue careers in the field.
To support diverse learners, every episode includes English and Spanish captions, making the content more accessible to classrooms and families statewide.
Biology Revealed is GPB’s fourth high school science video series, joining Chemistry Matters, Physics in Motion, and Let’s Go Enviro to support engaging, standards-aligned science instruction.
Biology Revealed is available at no cost to educators and students at gpb.org/biology-revealed. All episodes will also be published on YouTube and PBS LearningMedia.
