Primary Content
National Deaf History Month is observed from April 1st to April 30th to celebrate the history, culture, and contributions of deaf and hard of hearing individuals.
American Sign Language Day is observed annually on April 15th and celebrates the language and culture around American Sign Language (ASL). ASL day shows the importance of ASL as a language and as a means of communication for Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals worldwide.
In April 2024, PBS KIDS made American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation available for several series across its free digital streaming platforms for the first time. The six series that started the ASL integrations were "Arthur", "Alma's Way", "Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood", "Donkey Hodie", "Work It Out Wombats!" and "Pinkalicious & Peterrific", each featuring 10 episodes.
Since then, PBS KIDS has more than doubled its ASL collection, adding "Elinor Wonders Why", "Lyla in the Loop", "Molly of Denali", "Through the Woods", "Odd Sqaud", "Peg + Cat", "Tiny Time Travel", and "Phoebe & Jay".
The content in the American Sign Language (ASL) collection highlights PBS KIDS’ commitment to helping all kids learn by expanding accessibility with the addition of new ASL streaming content.
