From Puppets to Muppets. The Center for Puppetry Arts entertains the whole family
Primary Content
Not unlike the local sports teams, generations of Atlanta metro families have been entertained by an institution serving as a generational compass point for fun.
Who knew when the Center for Puppetry Arts opened in 1978 with the immortal Jim Henson in attendance, it would still be going strong 48 years later?
The ever-shifting currents of American pop culture have only made the center stronger, more relevant, and corporate sponsorship hasn't hurt either.
Today the museum holds the world’s largest collection of Jim Henson artifacts including puppets from the Muppets Show and Sesame Street.
In addition, there are workshops, special exhibits, live performances, and interactive displays.
Many of us who have raised children here have spent plenty of time in Midtown Atlanta inside an old schoolhouse laughing with our kids at feathery wise cracking ducks, geese, dragons, and frogs.
It is one of those places that makes making Atlanta—-Atlanta. Here is our recent Georgia Public Broadcasting visit.
