Three schools won their first state championships on Day 3 of the GHSA Basketball Championships at the Macon Coliseum, while another program produced its second state title.

The Creekview girls in Class 5A and the Rabun County boys and East Laurens girls in Class A Division 1 hoisted trophies for the first time. The Alexander boys won the 5A championship and can put it alongside their 2023 trophy.

The schedule for Saturday is: 

Class 2A: Girls – Hardaway vs. Murray County, 11 a.m.; Boys – Morgan County vs. Butle, 1 p.m. Adaptive championship: 3 p.m. Slam dunk contest: 4:45 p.m. Class 6A: Girls – Grayson vs. North Paulding, 5:30 p.m.; Boys – Wheeler vs. Pebblebrook, 7:30 p.m.

Creek

Class 5A girls: Creekview 45, Milton 43

Kailyn Hamby scored 20 points to pace a balanced attack to help Creekview knock off No. 1-ranked Milton and win its first state championship.

Payten Day added 11 rebounds and two blocked shots for the Grizzlies (27-5).

Milton (27-5) got 12 points from Aaleanna Milord and 11 points from Deyva Davis. Brooklyn Brunetti had eight points and eight rebounds.

Class 5A boys: Alexander 81, Woodward Academy 67

Pops Dunson scored 25 points – including a half-court buzzer beater to end the third period – to lead Alexander to its second state championship in four seasons. 

Alexander (30-2) also got 18 points and nine rebounds from Jayden Crawford and 15 points from Christian Moore.

Woodward Academy (25-7) got 17 points from Myles Hayes, 14 points from Jarvis Hayes Jr., 13 points from Brantley Lusakueno and Bradyn Elder, and 10 points from Donovan Johnson.

The game was tied 58-58 in the fourth quarter when Alexander outscored Woodward 25-12 in the final period.

Class A Division 1 girls: East Laurens 63, Elbert County 55

East Laurens (28-4) got 18 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks from Deanna Lowther, the Region 4 co-Player of the Year, and held off Elbert County’s second-half charge to win its first state title. 

The Falcons also got 17 points and 10 rebounds from Garyunna Mitchell and 12 points from Jameria Bing.

Elbert County (22-9) was led by Kaylen Rucker with 16 points, while Audrey Lunsford and Tiyah Thurman each scored 12.

Class A Division 1 boys: Rabun County 52, Southwest Macon 43

Navy commit Huey Blalock scored 29 points to help Rabun County win its first state championship. Blalock was 11-for-23 from the field with six rebounds, five assists and two steals.

No. 1-ranked Rabun County (30-2) also got 12 points and eight rebounds from Hayes Free.

Southwest Macon (29-7) was led by Chase Dupree with 20 points and Caron Howard with 13 points. Octavius Raglin had eight rebounds
