Pope rallied to score two late touchdowns to stun McEachern 14-13 and win the Division 5 flag football championship on Wednesday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. 

It was the third straight state championship for the Greyhounds, who finished the season 20-3. McEachern, also a defending state champion, finished 22-3.

McEachern led 13-0 on a 38-yard pass from Ava George to Jaedalyn Hull and a 1-yard run by Michala Butler.

Pope got on the board with 3:47 remaining when Abbey Bensman threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Elizabeth Kelly, with Kourtney Kalman’s extra point run making it 13-7.

Pope tied the game with five seconds remaining on a 1-yard run by Kalman, then won it on Bensman’s extra point run.

Bensman completed 18 of 27 passes for 147 yards with two interceptions. Kate Davenplrt caught seven passes for 47 yards, with Kalman and Talley Schuver each with four receptions.

McEachern’s Ava George was 7-for16 passing for 100 yard and one touchdown. Aaliyah Summers led thee Indians with five tackles. Ah’Lier Maybeth and Gabriela Soris had interceptions.
