Amari Latimer ran for 96 yards and scored two touchdowns to lead Sandy Creek to a 27-7 win over Jefferson to claim the Class 3A championship on Wednesday, its sixth state title and first since 2022.

The West Virginia signee finished the season with 2,419 yards and 44 touchdowns and completed his career with 4,932 yards.

Latimer scored on a 15-yard run and quarterback Caleb Hill scored on a 4-yard run to give the Patriots (15-0) the early lead. Jefferson (13-2) closed the game after Chance Payne scored on an 82-yard kickoff return.

Sandy Creek added another 2-yard run by Payne and Latimer finished the scoring with a 25-yard run. 

Hill carried 15 times for 68 yards and completed 14 of 19 passes for 167 yards. Khaylin Stevenson had five receptions.

Jefferson quarterback Colton Grant threw for 86 yards and ran for 61. The Dragons, who also lost in the title game last year, were limited to 182 total yards.
