Class A Division I: Worth County 17, Toombs County 13

Lyndon Worthy threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Jayden Farley to give No. 1-ranked Worth County a 17-13 win over defending champion and No. 2-ranked Toombs County in the Class A Division I championship game on Tuesday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
It was the first championship for Worth County (15-0) since 1987.
The outcome wasn’t sealed until Worth County’s Dashaun Rockwell intercepted a pass to quell a final Toombs County drive with 1:13 remaining.
Worthy completed 22 of 30 passes for 217 yards and one touchdown. Kaden Chester caught seven passes for 60 yards and Farley had four receptions, including the game-winner. Tre Jones ran 11 times for 70 yards and one touchdown.
Toombs County (13-2) jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter on a 42-yard touchdown pass from Joseph Owens to Nick Carroll and a 26-yard field goal from Nick Otero.
Worth battled back to tie the game on a 1-yard touchdown run from Tre Jones and a 35-yard field goal from Brodey Hancock. Toombs took a 13-10 lead into halftime when Otero kicked a 19-yard field goal with six seconds remaining.
Owens completed 12 of 21 passes for 144 yards and one touchdown and rushed for 27 yards. Justin Powell led all runners with 150 yards on 35 carries. Nick Carroll caught four passes for 81 yards.
