About Sandy Creek: Sandy Creek is aiming for its fifth state championship, the last one coming in 2022. The Patriots are led by Region 2 Player of the Year Amari Latimer, a West Virginia signee, who has rushed for 4,836 yards in his career – 2,323 yards and 42 TDs this season. QB Caleb Hill has thrown for 2,353 yards and 23 touchdowns, with only four interceptions. The line features three all-region picks: Ryan Moore, Andrew Holland and Mathias Miranda. Defensive end J.T. Austin was named the region’s Defensive Player of the Year and has 87 tackles, 27 tackles for loss and 16 sacks. All-region linebacker Andrew Dawson leads with 93 tackles. Corey Hadley is a four-star junior at safety. The Patriots are No. 3 in the GHSA’s Postseason Formula ratings.

About Jefferson: The Dragons are looking for revenge after being upset by Calhoun in the championship game a year ago. Jefferson has regrouped after losing star linebacker Max Brown with a knee injury in opening play of the fifth game against North Oconee; the Dragons have won nine in a row since then. The balanced attack is led by two-way QB Colton Grant, who has thrown for 886 yards and eight touchdowns and run for 422 yards and 12 TDs. RB C.J. Hayes (833 yards, eight touchdowns) is the most productive in a stable of backs. This is Jefferson’s third trip to the finals in the last six years, but it seeks its first title since legendary coach T. McFerrin took them all the way in 2012. Jefferson is No. 1 in the GHSA’s Postseason Formula ratings.

Series: First meeting.
