About Hebron Christian: The Lions are the defending state champions. Hebron, under first-year coach Kenny Dallas (who a state championship at Trinity Christian in 2021), lost its only game to Tennessee power McCallie. Hebron’s two gamebreakers on offense are running back Devon Caldwell (2,287 yards rushing, 36 TDs) and receiver Jarvis Mathurin (1,091 yards receiving, 284 yards rushing). The defense is led by Max Steve (119 tackles, four interceptions) and Stroud Morris (105 tackles, 11 tackles for loss). Steve was the Region 8-2A overall Player of the Year, Caldwell was Offensive POY, linebacker Albert Wilham was co-Defensive POY, Mathurin was Athlete of the Year, and Fletcher Turk was Lineman of the Year.
About Calvary Day: The Cavaliers are in the championship game for the first time since 2013. They feature a high-scoring team (44.9 points) that is extremely balanced. Quarterback James Mobley has thrown for 2,566 yards and 27 touchdowns, with Jalen Hicks (58 catches) and M.J. Knight (41 catches, 13 TDs) the primary target. Ca’Den Jones is the top rusher (778, 17 TDs). The line in anchored by all-region picks Carson Dean and Lawson Bentley. Top defensive players are Kenneth Baker (64 tackles, five sacks) and Jeffrey McCormick (18 sacks, 17 hurries). Mobley was the overall Player of the Year for Region 3.
