The lineup for the GHSA state football championship is almost set.

The only thing yet to be determined are the participants in Class 5A, which holds its semifinal games on Thursday.

The two 5A semifinals feature No. 4 Gainesville vs. No. 5 Rome and No. 1 Thomas County Central vs. No. 3 Roswell. The winners advance to the championship game on Dec. 17.

In a special Thursday version of Football Fridays in Georgia, GPB-TV will televise the Gainesville-Rome game at 7:30 p.m. from Barron Stadium in Rome. The game may also be seen at GPB.org and will later be available on demand.

The finals for the other classifications have been set and four teams are in position to defend their titles: Carver-Columbus in Class 2A, Toombs County in Class A Division I, Bowdon Class A Division II, and Hebron Christian in Private. Bowdon will be trying to win its fourth straight state championship.

The 6A game between Buford and Carrollton may determine the national high school championship. The two teams are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 by many national rankings services.

Here is the lineup for the Tommy Guillebeau Championships at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

  • Class 6A: No. 2 Buford vs. No. 3 Carrollton
