Milestones: North Gwinnett coach earns 150th career victory

North Gwinnett coach Eric Godfree celebrated the 150th victory of his career on Friday when the Bulldogs defeated Meadowcreek 63-0.
Godfree is in his third season at North Gwinnett and has compiled a 27-6 record with one region championship. The Bulldogs are 7-1 and ranked No. 4 in the GPB Class 6A rankings and have won seven in a row since dropping the season opener to Douglas County at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Godfree’s North Gwinnett team will travel to Norcross on Friday in what will help determine the Regioin 7-6A championship. The game will be featured on GPB’s Football Fridays in Georgia broadcast.
Godfree’s son Jake is a senior linebacker on this year’s team at North Gwinnett.
Godfree was a standout player at Parkview and played college football at Presbyterian. He was an assistant coach at Parkview from 1999-2003, where the Panthers won a state-record 46 straight games and three straight state titles. He began his career as a head coach by spending 10 seasons at Loganville. There his teams went 53-50 and won the 2008 region championship.
Godfree returned to Parkview as head coach, succeeding the legendary Cecil Flowe, and went 70-37 in nine seasons from 2014-22 and won two region championships. The 2019 team reached the state semifinals.
