The GPB Sports Top 10 rankings for Class A Division 1 continue to be a jumble, with teams sliding around like a slippery road during a Georgia ice storm.

Three teams from last week’s rankings lost last weekend, but none of them fell out of the poll. In fact, the team that dropped out of the top 10 didn’t even lose.

It was that kind of week. It’s been that kind of year in Class A Division 1.

Thomasville lost 41-40 to No. 1 Worth County and stayed at No. 4. Swainsboro lost to No. 2 Toombs County 47-20 and fell one spot to No. 6. Northeast was beaten 14-13 by Bleckley County and slipped two spots to No. 9. Bleckley jumped into the poll at No. 8.

The victim was Dublin. The Fighting Irish defeated ACE Charter 42-27 but fell out of the poll. Dublin will get a chance to regain its slot this week when it hosts Bleckley County.

“It’s been that kind of year in Class A,” said GPB’s Jon Nelson. “Region 1 and Region 2 are especially tough. They’re both deep and have a lot of good teams. It’s going to be fun to see how it all shakes out.”
