The GPB rankings have changed. This week’s version of the top 10 teams in each classification introduces a separate category for the Class 3A-A Private school category.

This will make it simpler to follow the rankings to the state playoffs, where the private schools are broken into their own division and compete for their own state championship – even though they compete alongside public schools during the regular season.

"We think our viewers and readers will like the way the rankings are presented on our website,” GPB’s Jon Nelson said. “It will really give us a clearer picture about who the top teams are in the state’s lower classifications – public and private.”

The new Class 3A-A Private classification category has 2024 state champion Hebron Christian as its No. 1-ranked team. The Lions are 3-1, with their only loss coming against Tennessee power McCallie. The No. 2 team is Prince Avenue Christian (4-1), whose only loss has come against Class 4A No. 9 Blessed Trinity. Hebron and Prince Avenue play each other on Oct. 31 in the final game of the regular season for both clubs.

There are no changes at the top of the rankings. Grayson (6A), Thomas County Central (5A), North Oconee (4A), Sandy Creek (3A), Carver-Columbus (2A), Worth County (A-Div. I) and Lincoln County (A-Div. 2) all retained their positions.
