For Monica Sunny, chai has always been about more than tea. Born in India, she grew up watching her parents and grandparents prepare chai daily, a ritual tied to family, conversation, and care. After moving to Georgia, she carried that tradition into her own home, creating Friday afternoon chai time with her sons as a way to stay connected and pass down culture.

Those quiet moments sparked the idea for The Chai Box. Friends, neighbors, and other parents began asking to learn how to make chai, and soon Monica found herself teaching others the process and the meaning behind it. What started in her kitchen evolved into a business dedicated to education, offering pre-blended chai boxes inspired by different regions of India and sourced with intention from regenerative spice farmers in Kerala.

Today, The Chai Box operates from a facility in Marietta where everything is blended, packaged, and brewed in small batches. The company’s bottled chai concentrate, perfected over 174 test batches with Monica’s son Ethan, reflects the same care as homemade chai. Along the way, recognition from Oprah Winfrey helped introduce The Chai Box to a global audience, but at its heart, the mission remains the same: to slow down, gather together, and make space for one another through chai.
