Jillian previously reported on the environment for the Savannah Morning News and urban ecology at Bay Nature Magazine in California, where she received an award for science reporting from the Society of Professional Journalists. She studied natural resource management and rhetoric at UC Berkeley and completed a master's in journalism at Columbia University.
