Luther A. Oakes was born in January of 1916. He served with the United States Army Air Corps but was captured by Japanese forces soon after his deployment. Mr. Oakes recalls defending against the Japanese at Bataan, watching an insane former cook shoot up the mess hall kitchen, and his time as a prisoner-of-war of the Japanese.
