Mr. John Cunningham was born October 9, 1922. He served in the Army Air Corps aboard a B-24 in the European Theater. Mr. Cunningham was part of the 8th Air Force Bomber Group and the 15th Air Force Bomber Group. He flew low-level raids over Italy, particularly Ploesti, a highly contested battle zone. Later, he flew supply planes in Cuba, where he met his wife. Mr. Cunningham gives an abbreviated account of training with actor Jimmy Stewart. Mr. Cunningham is the author of “When the Last Teardrop Falls,” a fictional account of the war peripherally based upon his experiences.
