Mr. John Wesley Bassett, Jr. was born July 11, 1924. He served as a Boatswain’s Mate Second Class in the Navy. Mr. Bassett shares his memories of traveling through the Panama Canal before the Invasion of Okinawa; the hell Kamikaze pilots caused him, and the soldiers who died when a 14 inch projectile penetrated the hull of his ship.
