This week we paused to celebrate the musical legacies of Lou Rawls, Billy Strayhorn and the debut of Duke Ellington and His Orchestra at the Cotton Club in New York City this week in jazz back in 1928!

For well over 60 years, pianist Dave Brubeck has been creating a sound that combines what he hears in the world around him with experimentation, playfulness and a lot of serious musicianship.

His music is some of the most recognizable and influential pieces in jazz history.
