Papa Said We Should Never Forget

When twelve planeloads of paratroopers of the 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment jumped into the French dawn on June 6, 1944, they found themselves 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) south of their drop-zone, deep into enemy territory and held up by the marshes that surround the tiny village of Graignes. Outmanned and outgunned, the small band of soldiers suddenly became dependent on the very people they were risking their lives to liberate.

Papa said, “We should never forget.” is the true story of World War II’s unlikeliest heroes, including one young girl who, with her family and fellow villagers, put their lives on the line to assist the Allied soldiers in the fight for freedom.
