Hosted by Scott Thompson, Dave Thomas and Joe Flaherty, Second City- The First Family of Comedy is a nostalgic look back at the famous improvisational theater group which began in Chicago in the 1950s, spread to Toronto, became a TV show (SCTV) and spawned some of the biggest names in comedy: Ed Asner, Mike Nichols and Elaine May, John Candy, Andrea Martin, Catherine O'Hara, John and Jim Belushi, Dan Akroyd, Ryan Stiles, Tina Fey, Alan Arkin, Martin Short, Harold Remis, Colin Mochrie, Bill Murray, Mike Myers and many others. This two-part retrospective features interviews with actors, directors, founders and producers and includes an abundance of archival material and many clips from the TV show. Together they tell the story of a phenomenon that changed the face of comedy forever.
