KENNESAW

We visit with Coach Shane Queen and the North Cobb High football team. Over the summer, the Warriors competed against 2,500 teams from around the country placing second in the annual NFL 7-On-7 National Championship. Coach Queen is hoping this positive experience will carry over to Friday nights this season.

COLUMBUS

Honored as one of seventeen Georgians to make the Top 150 High School Players in the country, Brookstone School senior tight end Brian Vogler recently accepted a scholarship to attend the University of Alabama next fall. We recognize Vogler as this week’s “Cream of the Crop,” our look at one of Georgia’s senior football standouts.

COVINGTON

The Eastside High softball program has a great tradition dating back to their 1998 & 1999 state championship seasons. Ranked in the Top 10 in Class AAA once again this season the Eagles look to improve on their 2008 3rd Place finish.

WARNER ROBINS

For two consecutive years, the Lady Bears of Houston County High missed out on a trip to Columbus for the State AAAAA Softball Championship by only 1 game. With only 2 starters lost to graduation from last year’s
28 & 6 team, this could very well be the year for Coach Angela Crawford and her softball program.

MCDONOUGH

Ola High senior Dylan Leonard is a “big guy” on and off the field. Leonard, an offensive tackle, was selected to compete this past January at the 2009 U.S. Army All-Star Game. Leonard is a “big guy” in the classroom as well taking 6 AP classes while maintaining an outstanding 4.71 GPA. We recognize Leonard as this week’s “Academic Athlete of the Week.”
