Melons are a great summer tradition, whether eaten off the rind or mixed with different fruits and vegetables. Varieties like watermelon, cantaloupe and honeydew are all low in calories, fat-free and provide a good source of vitamins A and C while also serving as a good source of hydration. There are over 40,000 acres of melon crops in Georgia and Cordele, Ga., is known as the “Watermelon Capitol.”
