Police are investigating after a metro Atlanta family found a large cross, which had been set on fire in their front yard. The flaming cross was found Sunday night, a few steps from the front door of their Woodstock home about 30 miles north of Atlanta.
Two workers setting up fireworks for the Fourth of July display in Woodstock have been injured. Also, a boatload of fireworks on a lake in Villa Rica went up all at once near the VFW post, injuring two men preparing for the show.

In an important Region 2-AAAAA clash Brandon Addison preserved the victory for undefeated Stephenson on the game’s final play, as the Jaguars defeated East Coweta 24-17. With East Coweta inside the Stephenson 10-yard line, Addison sacked the Indians' quarterback.
A racetrack that’s been a fixture for three decades in northeast Georgia is scaling back its schedule. Lanier National Speedway in Braselton is losing its battle with the economy. So the track's owners says weekly races won't be offered anymore. Instead, special races and other events will be held at the track.
