Wells Fargo bank officials say a viral video filmed inside an Atlanta bank branch was not approved or produced by the company, and employees participated on their own time. The video, one of many depicting the "Harlem Shake," features characters dancing in the lobby of a Wells Fargo branch.
Wells Fargo has announced plans to hire 200 new employees in the metro Atlanta region. The San Francisco-based bank is hiring new workers as part of a broader hiring push for more mortgage bankers, small business lenders, loan underwriters and financial advisers throughout the East Coast.
Georgians who were victims of mortgage fraud will share in a $25 billion federal settlement. The state’s attorney general announced Thursday the agreement will also provide $100 million for homeowners who owe more than the value of their homes.
Wells Fargo will begin charging some Georgia customers $3 a month to use their debit cards. Georgia is one of four states where a pilot program will tack on the fee every month when a debit card is used. The pilot begins in October.
Wells Fargo says it will help to educate homeowners about managing money. The bank will work with Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow PUSH coalition and other civil rights groups. They have been critical of Wells Fargo’s lending practices in the past.
