There is little question that Pope has the best volleyball team in Class AAAA. The Greyhounds extended their winning streak to 15 with a victory over Woodland, Bartow on Tuesday.

St. Pius X has had a terrific year. The Golden Lions have a 36-4 overall record and a 7-0 mark in 5-AAA area play. Two of those area wins came against Druid Hills and North Springs early last week.

We’re a third of the way home in the 2010-2011 Regions Directors Cup race. The Georgia Athletics Directors Association has presented the award since 1999-2000 to recognize the very best athletics programs in Georgia.

Saturday's state volleyball finals plan to give high school sports fans plenty of excitement. In Class 5A, Walton looks to get back in the winner's circle for the first time since 2002, when the Raiders won the last of five consecutive state titles. They will be opposed by Northview, who won state gold in 2007 and 2008.
