Officials in Savannah's Chatham County hope a mediator will resolve negotiations over how to split up a local sales tax. The county and its seven municipalities have until August 12th to agree on a formula to split up its 1% Local Option Sales Tax. At issue is about $600 million in potential tax revenue.
In a suit mailed to the Superior Court of Upson County Friday, plaintiff the Rev. Jonathan Wilkins accuses Georgia officials of violating his First and Second Amendment rights by enforcing state code restricting the carrying of guns in places of worship.
