State labor officials say Georgia's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate has dropped to 8.2 percent in April. That's down from 8.4 percent in March, and 9.1 percent a year ago. Georgia employers created more than 31,000 jobs in April.

State labor officials say metro Atlanta's unemployment rate dropped to 7.9 percent in March. That is down four-tenths of a percentage point from 8.3 percent in February. The Georgia Department of Labor announced the new rate early Thursday morning.

Georgia's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped to 8.4 percent in March, the lowest rate since December 2008. That is down from 8.6 percent in February, and 9.1 percent in March a year ago.

State labor officials say Georgia's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 8.7 percent in January was unchanged from the December rate. The jobless rate was down from 9.3 percent a year ago.

Georgia labor officials say the state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate has risen slightly to 8.6 percent. The December figure is up one-tenth of a percentage point from 8.5 percent in November. The rate was 9.4 percent in December a year ago.
