Support for a proposed 1-cent transportation sales tax could erode as some popular projects are eliminated from regional short lists. The measure is scheduled for a vote in July of next year.

A referendum on a proposed transportation sales tax will take place next summer. Some officials have expressed a desire to move the vote to the November general election. But changing the date won’t be easy.

The organization Georgians for Passenger Rail will try to include projects for a passenger rail commuter line from Macon to Atlanta in the regional transportation sales tax to be voted on in November of 2012.
