The city of Valdosta proclaims September 17, 2011 as South Georgia Pride Day. It’s an effort to take a stand against bullying and hate crimes. Mayor John Fretti alongside the South Georgia Pride Committee acknowledges that both gay and transgender people are a part of the community.
A federal judge has ordered that a Georgia state legislative aide who said she was fired because of discrimination should get her job back. U.S. District Judge Richard W. Story on Tuesday ordered that Vandy Beth Glenn be reinstated to her job as an editor in the Georgia General Assembly's Office of Legislative Counsel no later than Monday.
