State officials and lawmakers have launched a campaign aimed at addressing the issue of prescription drug abuse among teenagers in the state. Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities spokesman Matt Carrothers Tuesday said that state officials and youth from Catoosa and Gwinnett counties met at the Capitol to launch the project, titled "Generation Rx."
The mayor of Albany said officials are looking for ways to clamp down on unruly teenagers after violence marred the July 4th fireworks in the southwest Georgia city. Authorities blames most of the violence on unsupervised teenagers.
The Senate has unanimously approved legislation that overhauls the way Georgia treats sex traffickers by imposing higher fines and stiffer sentences while also offering new treatment options to people who could be victims of the sex slave trade.
