The Georgia Department of Natural Resources board of directors has voted to scale back policing power for some state park rangers. The vote was part of plan to reorganize the department's law enforcement division and the move will consolidate five separate units within the agency into one. The consolidation will be implemented between now and 2018.

Watson Mill Bridge will return to its status as a state park after volunteers and local governments contributed $30,000 to help run it. The park had been downgraded last year as part of statewide budget cuts.
