In a Class AAAA second-round playoff game, the three-time defending state champion Wolverines cruised to an easy 79-29 win over visiting Loganville. “It was a great defensive performance, and then some,” said Wolverines coach Sharman White.

Milton held off visiting Walton 68-62 in a Class AAAAA first-round playoff game. The Eagles pushed the lead to 13 in the third quarter before Walton narrowed the gap to four points by the end of the quarter.

The first round of the Georgia high school basketball playoffs is halfway done after a rousing night of action on Friday. In the first full Friday night of high school football, we wrote 35 recaps of metro Atlanta games. Led by Collins Hill’s comeback victory over Roswell in a game that was televised by GPB, there were several exciting games around Atlanta.

In Elite Eight action from five different sites across the state, 20 teams punched their ticket to this week's semifinals. Tonight, we covered three sites from around the state: Dalton, Marietta and Savannah.

The second round of the state high school basketball playoffs took place Tuesday on campuses around the state. For the most part, the favorites rolled. However, in Cherokee County, third-seeded Milton pulled another upset as they defeated No. 1 seed Etowah on their home floor. The Lady Eagles had upended No. 2 seed Parkview last week on the road.

Tonight in the first round of the state basketball playoffs, Walton, Berkmar and Campbell all went down tonight in boys playoff action. The craziness in Georgia girls basketball is settling down, just as region and state tournaments are about to commence. Last week, we saw three new teams ascend to the top spot of the AJC’s weekly poll. This week, all five of the No. 1’s remain in the pole position.
